Volkswagen Group recently concluded a board meeting and announced a significant overhaul of its electrification action plan within the next five years. As previously stated, there will be a strong emphasis on software strategies.
Recently, there have been some changes within the global automotive group and a greater emphasis on future planning.
Volkswagen to surpass Tesla in EV race, per analysts
Many media outlets predicted that VW would be the first automaker to outperform Tesla in the EV race over the last few years, but much has changed.
Volkswagen has been dealing with substantial software issues with the company’s electric vehicles. Nonetheless, the VW Group’s ID EV line is expanding and in reasonably high demand.
Indeed, thanks to the Volkswagen ID.4 electric SUV, the group exceeds its target of producing 500,000 ID EVs per year ahead of schedule, according to Electrek.
Some analysts remain positive that VW Group will surpass Tesla in EV sales as soon as 2024.
VM needs to undergo changes
Oliver Blume, who took over as CEO of Volkswagen Group after Herbert Diess’s retirement last year, has been examining the automobile manufacturer’s plans and collaborating with other executives.
According to Blume, Volkswagen must go about the transition correctly, which needs a major revamp, despite the fact that adjustments could result in some delays early on.
A brand-new software strategy will be implemented as part of the new plan, which will hasten the transition toward electric cars already underway at the company.
The board has shifted its focus to examine the various EV production facilities owned by VW Group in greater detail. They aim to make definitive decisions regarding the timing of the transition to the production of EVs at those facilities, the new factory plans that will continue to be pursued, and the employment landscape that will be the result of changes coming.
The newly reached agreement guarantees employment at the Volkswagen plant in Hannover, Germany, until 2029. It comes as a relief to the workers there.
It suggests that the factory will switch to producing EVs shortly when the existing production plans end, although it has yet to be confirmed.
