In October, Polestar introduced its first electric SUV, the Polestar 3, as part of its new age of electric vehicles, following the release of the hugely successful all-electric Polestar 2. The Polestar 3 has an EPA-estimated range of up to 270 miles.

So… This summer, Polestar put this cube on a small island. It will be opened on the 12th of October to reveal the Polestar 3.

Ideal “SUV for the electric age“

The automaker claims the Polestar 3 is the “SUV for the electric age.” It features an elegant, understated design inspired by Scandinavian minimalism, improved aerodynamics, and a powerful and wide stance.

Polestar got the SUV and decided to bring it to the modern period by integrating the hallmarks of an SUV and merging them with developed innovative features that the company calls the Smartzone. It substitutes the front grille with a host of radars, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors, primarily functioning as a “third eye.”

“This car has been designed as a Polestar from the start and features new defining characteristics for us – like the dual blade headlights, SmartZone, and front aero wing.”

Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO

Polestar 3 comes with two models

On Friday, Polestar officially introduced the Polestar 3 electric SUV to the Chinese market after much anticipation. The “new starting price” for the Polestar 3 is 698,000 yuan, equivalent to approximately $101,400.

The Polestar 3 will be available in a “Dual Motor Long Endurance” version and a “Dual Motor High-Performance” model. These are the two distinct variants that will be available.

The Long Endurance model begins at 698,000 yuan and has a maximum power output of 360 kW and a range of up to 670 kilometers (416 mi).

On the other hand, the High-Performance model has a starting price of 798,000 yuan and comes with a maximum power output of 380 kW and a range of up to 620 kilometers (385 mi).

Polestar 3 to enter the US market in 2023

Polestar claims their electric SUV profoundly interprets “pure luxury” because of its more organic design, driving control, environmental protection, and technology.

The company has stated that the Polestar 3 will have a starting price in the US of $83,000, with a range of up to 300 miles and a charge time of 30 minutes.

Electrek reports that the first deliveries are anticipated to begin in the United States by the end of 2023, followed by the introduction of the Polestar 4 soon this year and the Polestar 5 in 2024.
