American electric automaker Lucid Motors just announced that its luxury electric car Air is now standardly equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay along with Android Auto.
“Say hello, to the smarter and safer way to use your iPhone in the Lucid Air. Get directions, make phone calls, respond to text messages, enjoy your favorite music, and more—all on the Glass Cockpit display.”
Lucid
In retrospect, the automaker was sighted while testing the Apple CarPlay in the Air model. Finally, the highly demanded feature is now available to all Lucid EVs.
What’s the big deal?
The automaker claims that this most recent OTA update enables easy access to apps directly from the Air’s own Class Cockpit touchscreen. It would allow Air owners to link their iPhones to the car’s infotainment display and easily navigate the following actions:
- make calls
- send and receive messages
- maps navigation
- music or podcasts streaming, and more
It also offers Siri voice commands, which allow drivers to control the features without getting distracted while driving. Furthermore, it also supports the following third-party applications:
- Google Maps
- Spotify
- Audible
- Waze
Lucid’s Glass Cockpit display
Lucid Air is equipped with a 34-inch, 5K floating screen Glass Cockpit display, which can sweep around the driver.
The screen displays relevant data such as the following:
- vehicle controls
- driving details
- navigation
- media
Apart from that, Lucid also boasts that its EVs have retractable Pilot Panel console’s center for “deeper-level controls.”

Indeed, integrating the Apple CarPLay into the car’s Glass Cockpit would be remarkable. It is also worth noting that the next-gen Apple CarPlay is set to debut in late 2023, which implies that Lucid might be featuring the original version.
