South Korean legacy automaker Hyundai Motor Group has just unveiled innovative delivery, parking, and autonomous charging robots at a smart office building in Seoul.
According to the press release, the newly launched DAL-e Delivery Robot, Parking Robot, and Automatic Charging Robot (ACR) are now operational in IGIS Asset Management’s “robot-friendly” office building – Factorial Seongsu.
DAL-e Delivery Robot
Hyundai Motor and Kia collaborated to develop the new DAL-e Delivery Robot.
These cutting-edge robots can deliver drinks to occupants at the Factorial Seongsu, enabling fast delivery service. Remarkably, the DAL-e Delivery Robot can autonomously navigate throughout the building while also identifying optimal routes in real time. It can also interface with various systems, such as the elevator and door control.
It boasts an 11.6-inch high-resolution display that delivers clear service status graphics. It also has a large cargo capacity that can simultaneously support up to 16 cups of coffee or items weighing up to 10 kilograms.
Interested customers can simply order their drink through the mobile app, and then the robot will take the drink from the cafe and deliver it to the particular office space or meeting room.

WIA’s ‘Parking Robot’
Hyundai WIA’s parking robot has the capability to autonomously park vehicles with a maximum weight of 2.2 tons at peak speeds of 1.2 meters per second.
It can seamlessly maneuver vehicles even in narrow spaces where parking may be complex for human drivers, boosting space utilization. These robots can also retrieve the vehicle from its parking spot whenever a customer needs it and park it again afterward. Impressively, it marks the first time an autonomous parking robot has been commercialized in South Korea.

Automatic Charging Robot (ACR)
Hyundai WIA has also introduced its new Automatic Charging Robot (ACR).
The parking robots deliver the vehicle to a charging area where the ACR would identify it by scanning the license plate. The robot uses a deep learning-based recognition function to determine and connect the charging port to the charging station. It can also check the battery status before it initiates charging.
The parking robot will return to the charging area once the charging session is complete. According to the press release, the company will integrate the charging robots into the parking system starting in the third quarter of the year.
The launch of these new robots is part of the Hyundai Motor Group’s ‘Robot Total Solution’ development plan proposal. This plan involves the deployment of various robots and facial recognition systems in smart buildings, starting with Factorial Seongsu. The South Korean Group also aims to launch a “multi-integrated control system” for delivery robot management under the Robot Total Solution.
