Chinese automaker Foton Global, through its Australian business unit, will offer an enticing battery warranty of 8 years/300,000-kilometre for buyers of the new all-electric truck T5.
Truck Sales indicated that Austalia’s Foton Mobility Distribution included all new orders, demo models, and dealer stocks in the new warranty program.
Current industry standard
According to Trade Trucks, typical automakers guarantee a battery warranty of 8 years/160,000-200,000km.
Moreover, the current industry standards require all defective power batteries covered in the eight-year/160,000-200,000km warranty to be eligible for repair or replacement.
All that said, Foton’s offer indicates a notable boost of about 140km to 100 km in T5’s battery warranty. Apart from this, the new electric truck also offers an overall vehicle warranty of 5 years/200,000km.
“We are particularly proud of the Foton T5 EV, which has quickly taken a decisive sales lead in the all-electric light truck space.
Around the world, Foton dominates the alternate fuels space with over 22,000 units produced last year alone, and with this worldwide expertise, we can stand by our products with this extended power battery warranty.”

What’s the big deal?
As mentioned, Foton T5’s battery warranty of 8 years/300,000km overthrows the average automaker’s offer in Australia.
In effect, it can substantially attract more customers to buy the new model. Such an offer is hard to resist, considering the high cost of maintenance and repair of electric vehicles.
“Looking at the EV market here in Australia, this offering easily exceeds any other similar support available, allowing Foton owners to be sure they are investing in high-quality, yet affordable technology.”

Mr. Gillespie also noted that the new T5 trucks have a reliable dealer network and 24/7 roadside assistance service.
“Furthermore, the trucks are backed by a nationwide dealer network from Cairns to Perth, and are supported by 24/7 roadside assistance, as provided by industry leader NTI Truck Assist.”
