BYD debuts in Japan with the launch of ATTO 3

The ATTO 3 electric SUV from Chinese automaker BYD, has gone on sale in Japan at 20 locations, marking its debut in the country. The company decided to open its first Japanese dealership in Yokohama, per EconoTimes.

BYD Auto Tomei Yokohama, the world’s second-largest electric-vehicle manufacturer’s showroom, will collaborate with a local car dealer near the Yokohama-Machida Interchange off the Tomei Expressway.

Opening new market opportunities in Japan

On February 23, a second location in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, will open. According to Atsuki Tofukuji, president of BYD Auto Japan, they will be able to offer new options in the Japanese automotive market.

Apart from that, the Shenzhen-based producer intends to open more than 100 dealerships in Japan by the end of 2025.

It is also worth noting that Tofukuji is already completing the details with 33 locations.

BYD launched the ATTO 3 in China in February 2022 and later expanded its sales to other countries, including Australia and Thailand.

The automaker also intends to launch two other models in Japan: the Seal sedan in the second quarter of 2023 and the Dolphin, a small car, in the middle of 2023.
