EPA range changes and energy consumption rating

InsideEVs outlined that the Mercedes-Benz EQE family includes four variants: RWD EQE 350+, AWD EQE 350 4Matic, EQE 500 4Matic, and sportier AWD AMG EQE.

For reference, the 2023 model year had an EPA range point of 225 miles to 305 miles. Impressively, all AWD variants for the 2024 model year saw improvements in the EPA Combined range. However, the RWD variant reported a slight decline in range.

Presented below is the EPA range comparison of the 2024 and 2023 EQEs:

Basic specifications

Mercedes has yet to disclose more details about the changes between the 2023 and 2024 EQEs. In fact, the model’s online configurator still only displays the prior model year.

Here are the 2023 Mercedes EQEs’ basic specifications for reference:

As you can observe in the table above, the EQE 500 4Matic AWD variant will offer the same EPA range of 298 miles as the base variant EQE 350+ RWD.

According to Car and Driver, the 2024 EQEs will have a 90.6-kWh battery pack that enables more than a 300-mile driving range. It can apparently charge from 10%-100% in just 9.5 hours with a 240-volt Level 2 charger. It is faster with a DC fast charger at only 31 minutes from 10%-80%.

Pricing

As expected, Mercedes has not yet announced the official pricing of the 2024 EQEs. To give you an idea, here are the current prices of the 2023 model-year variants:

The midsize 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will arrive in U.S. showrooms later this spring from $77,900. In addition, the well-equipped EQE 350+ SUV / EQE 350 4Matic SUV Exclusive can be had from $80,000, while the range-topping EQE 500 4Matic SUV Pinnacle comes in at $95,200. #EQE pic.twitter.com/KfUGleT4aM

Considering that the 2023 Mercedes EQE variants cost more than $55,000, customers cannot benefit from the US federal tax credits of up to $7,500. Therefore, it is highly likely the 2024 EQEs will also not make the eligible lists of the IRA’s EV tax credits.
