The concept of transforming how vehicles are manufactured, from using fuel to power up an engine to going all-electric, has allowed us to explore and dive into a cleaner and more sustainable way of creation.

The idea to incorporate or fully integrate renewable energy sources is allowing us to salvage what the pollution has done for the environment. Additionally, with growing demand and rising sales of electric vehicles, specific goals have been placed to achieve at a particular time frame.

We’re building 500,0000 electric vehicle chargers by 2030 to make sure everyone can conveniently and reliably access chargers where they live and where they are going.

Goals around electric vehicles have been set, such as achieving a certain percentage of sales by 2030, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and dependency on fossil fuels, and gearing towards renewable energy. It also varies by country and region, and many governments and organizations have set ambitious targets for EV adoption in the next decade.

Some automakers have also announced plans to increase their EV sales target by 2030, including South Korean Kia and German Volkswagen.

Need for affordable EVs

Though this goal would result in a significant environmental impact, it may seem far-fetched unless the public can purchase electric vehicles at a reasonable price range.

Professor John D Graham, who led the study at Indiana University’s Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, commented on this matter.

“We need to focus policymakers, automakers, and electric utilities on how to stimulate consumer demand for automaker offerings of affordable electric cars.”

Furthermore, McKinsey & Company offers three areas impacted on transforming the way we move with transportation.

● Regulation. Governments and cities are introducing regulations and incentives to fasten the shift to sustainable mobility.

● Consumer behavior. Awareness and consumer behavior are gradually changing as more of the population accepts alternative and more sustainable modes of mobility.

● Technology. Industry players are developing new electric, connected, autonomous, and shared mobility concepts.

Overall, the goals for EVs in 2030 are promising by a desire to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system.
