Tesla dominated the S&P Global Mobility Loyalty Awards again

According to the S&P Global Mobility’s report for the 2023 awards, Tesla successfully defended its hold on four first-place trophies it earned in 2022, including the following:

  • Overall Loyalty to Make
  • Ethnic Market Loyalty to Make
  • Highest Conquest Percentage
  • Alternative Powertrain Loyalty to Make Awards

These notable awards enable Tesla to advance as the sole automaker in the list to achieve more than one title. Other brands, including GM, Lincoln, Acura, Nissan, and Mitsubishi, landed first spots in other categories.

Still the best …

Tesla’s lead in the electric vehicle market

Tesla has long been the leader in the electric vehicle industry in the US, owing to its market share domination.

As of now, there are still no electric automakers that get near the Musk-led company’s market share. Although Tesla is starting to see the figure decline in the past few years, it remains way ahead of its rivals. In addition, these market share declines are only natural to happen, considering the growing number of new models in the market.

Tesla’s unbeatable prevalence and sustained success in the electric vehicle market enabled it to uphold the four prestigious loyalty awards from S&P Global Mobility.

Complete list of 2023 winners

For context, S&P Global Mobility monitors customer buying activity from January to December to assess the market trends. It enables them to learn about the changes or progress in the overall industry.

As per the research firm, the industry “is showing continued signs of recovery, as both retail sales and loyalty increased year-over-year” in 2023.

“The last few years have shown us that customers are becoming more comfortable to consider and purchase a new vehicle outside their preferred brand. However, concerted efforts from OEMs to improve retention through unique marketing initiatives, alongside improving inventory levels and great new products, are resulting in a stabilizing of loyalty levels, after several years of decline.”

Joe LaFeir, President, Automotive Insights, S&P Global Mobility
