What’s New for 2023?

The 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge has been updated with a fresh look that features a redesigned front bumper and grille inspired by the fastback C40 Recharge. This year, the XC40 also inherits the C40’s more angular LED headlamps, giving it an even more striking appearance. Inside, the XC40 Recharge boasts new vegan-friendly vinyl upholstery, adding to its impressive sustainability credentials.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

The interior of the 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge offers the same practical and spacious design as the gasoline-powered model. The cabin features plenty of clever storage solutions, comfortable seating for both front and rear passengers, and a well-positioned driver’s seat. And with no bulky engine taking up space under the hood, the XC40 Recharge even has a front trunk for convenient charging cable storage.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life

With a standard 75.0-kWh battery pack, the 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge is an electric SUV that offers impressive range and charging capabilities. According to the EPA, the XC40 Recharge can travel up to 223 miles per charge, making it an ideal choice for daily commutes and long road trips. And with the ability to fast-charge at DC terminals or charge at home via a 240-volt outlet, recharging is quick and easy.

With its 400-volt class battery setup, the XC40 Recharge Plus can achieve DC fast-charging speeds of up to 133kW, while the Ultimate model with dual motors can charge even faster at up to 150kW. Both models can also be charged at AC rates of up to 11kW.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe

According to the EPA, the 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge offers excellent fuel economy ratings of 92 MPGe in the city and 79 MPGe on the highway. These impressive ratings make this electric SUV an excellent choice for drivers who want to save money on fuel costs while reducing their carbon footprint.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge marks a new era for the brand’s infotainment system, with the introduction of Google-developed Android Automotive software. The new system provides intuitive functionality and snappy performance, but some drivers may find the small onscreen buttons difficult to navigate while on the road. A customizable 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is standard, and the system will eventually offer connectivity options for both Android and Apple iPhone devices.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The XC40 Recharge boasts a range of advanced safety features designed to protect drivers and passengers alike. Standard driver-assistance features include automated emergency braking and adaptive cruise control, while additional options such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available as part of the Advanced package. To stay up-to-date on the latest crash test results and safety ratings, drivers can visit the NHTSA and IIHS websites for more information. Key safety features include:

* Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection

* Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist

* Standard adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode
