FAW-Volkswagen has become the latest company to join China’s auto industry’s price war.
According to a poster uploaded on Weibo on March 11 by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture in China, Volkswagen is providing special discounts of up to RMB 40,000 yuan ($5,820) on the ID—models, with its lineup beginning at as low as RMB 174,900 yuan.
Special discounts are to commemorate the second anniversary of the ID—family of models’ introduction.
Free camping kit for customers
Moreover, regarding the price reduction, FAW-Volkswagen is giving customers a camping kit with a value of RMB 4,900 absolutely free.
CNEVPOST reports that the poster that Volkswagen has displayed states that these deals are only available for a limited time. Still, there is no mention of an end date.
At the moment, FAW-Volkswagen is selling SUVs from the ID. Series, specifically the ID.4 Crozz and the ID.6 Crozz. The suggested retail prices for these two vehicles begin at RMB 217,900 and RMB 258,900, respectively.
The other Volkswagen joint venture in China, SAIC-Volkswagen, also provides ID discounts. It is in addition to FAW-Volkswagen, which is also providing these discounts.
SAIC-Volkswagen provides additional benefits
Based on a poster, customers buy a pure electric vehicle from the SAIC Volkswagen ID. Series can receive discounts of up to RMB 30,000 and up to RMB 10,000 worth of additional benefits at dealership stores.

SAIC-Volkswagen offers the same ID. Four series models as FAW-Volkswagen does, including the ID.4 X and ID.6 X, with recommended retail prices beginning at RMB 195,888 and RMB 259,888, respectively.
The CPCA reported that FAW-total Volkswagen’s retail vehicle sales for January and February decreased by 24.9 percent to 221,946 units. Retail sales of all vehicles at SAIC-Volkswagen fell by 29% to 154,631 units during the same period.
