Electric automaker VinFast reportedly plans to deliver its second EV batch in the North American market.
VinFast noted in its recent filing that the VF 8 City Edition models were the first to undergo necessary testing and approval in the US. That explains why it arrived earlier than the longer-range model.
EV mix for second batch shipment
VinFast CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy announced via Bloomberg the automaker’s plans to ship 900 units of its VF 8 standard to California and another 900 to Canada.
Going back, VinFast aims to begin the standard VF 8 deliveries to American customers in early May. Meanwhile, customer deliveries in Canada are set for early June.
“We are working toward launching the standard VF 8 and will make sure to have all the required certificates at the time of delivery to customers.”

The planned standard VF 8 SUV offers an estimated WLTP driving range of 293 miles, per VinFast’s online configurator. It has a base price of $49,000 in the US and C$57,500 in Canada, according to CEO Thuy.
First batch of deliveries
In retrospect, VinFast has already delivered its first batch of EVs in the US. It consisted of 999 units of its VF 8 City Editions, offering a shorter range than the company’s impending e-SUVs.
Furthermore, 45 units of its City Edition electric cars were apparently delivered to US customers in early March. It has an EPA-rated driving range of up to 207 miles.
Notably, the automaker is leasing these EVs starting at $399/month for 2 years.
VinFast’s IPO
“We understand that our company valuation or the size of our IPO will be subject, in part, to market conditions. Once VinFast successfully lists in the US, this will facilitate future access to the capital markets for the company, and further support VinFast’s global expansion.”
VinFast CEO Le Thi Thu Thuy stated that time
Per Bloomberg, VinFast is anticipating the IPO as soon as Q2 2023.
