South Korean automaker Kia had its lowest monthly result for Kia EV6 deliveries in the United States. Even more, Kia’s first sub-1,000 record and just 1.1% of the entire volume came from just 641 Kia EV6 deliveries in November, as reported by InsideEVs.

For reference, 19,931 Kia EV6s have been sold in the US thus far this year, which is 3.1% of Kia’s overall volume. In light of the ongoing downturn, hitting 20,000 sales would be uncertain for the automaker, with just one month left in 2022.

Kia sales in the US

Kia America reported a record-breaking 56,703 car sales in November, marking a 25% year-on-year increase. Despite having a tough year, the automaker has sold 633,127 units so far, which is only 3% fewer than last year.

In addition, sales of its electrified cars reportedly increased by 133% YoY, capping a run of five consecutive months of double- or triple-digit rises.

“Building on our best-ever third-quarter and October sales, Kia’s upward momentum continued with a record November with SUVs and hybrids, plug-in hybrids and EVs pushing the brand ever higher. With Sportage up 144-percent and our electrified offerings posting double or triple-digit sales increases for the fifth consecutive month, we are confident that we will end the year strong, and this positive sales momentum will carry through to 2023.”

Vice President of Sales Operations at Kia America, Eric Watson

The performance-focused Kia EV6 GT version is expected to solidify the Kia EV6 family in the future. It is reportedly based on the GT-Line trim, which has a 3.4-second 0 to 60 mph acceleration time.

However, sales of the Kia EV6 GT version in the US will be constrained if it does not qualify for the $7,500 tax credit under the newly passed Inflation Reduction Act.
