American electric automaker Tesla has decided to end Model S and X right-hand-drive (RHD) variants in select markets.
Therefore, Tesla will stop selling those models in RHD markets such as the UK, Australia, and Singapore, among others.
In that regard, the Musk-led automaker proposed a way to aid customers who already placed orders for the S and X vehicles in the said markets.
Tesla will conduct seminars to address customer concerns
Tesla will start conducting seminars in select markets to address the queries and concerns of the order holders who have not yet received the S and X vehicles.
The planned seminar will usher a Q&A portion where Tesla will answer customer queries as it aims to alleviate apprehensions.
According to Tesla’s email to Model S and X customers, the automaker is offering the affected customers a discount of $2,000 for a new Model 3 or Y order. Tesla has made inroad to Thailand at the end of 2022 and with offerings of Model 3 and Model Y.
However, Tesla has not yet disclosed additional information regarding the options it will provide for the order holders who decide to attend these seminars.
It is also interesting to note that Tesla has previously disclosed plans to launch the Model S and X in Japan, which is also an RHD market. Rather than canceling this expansion, Tesla will instead deliver LHD units to the country.
Moreover, Tesla also announced that it would not relaunch RHD Model S and X production.
“In order to sell Model S worldwide, Tesla will ship left hand drive cars to Japan; There are no plans to produce a right-hand drive model.”
