That might be quite surprising, considering its sibling Model Y‘s high sales.

Tesla Model 3 hit 19,989,872 searches, per analyst

Google Search data on the most popular topics pertaining to more than 300 electric car models were examined by Gridserve.

According to the report, Tesla Model 3 searches hit about 17,654,842 searches from Europe, North America, and Oceania. Remarkably, that figure contributed 88% of the global total of 19,989,872 searches.

It is also worth noting that Tesla Model 3 gained the most interest in 41 out of the 50 US states.

Below are the rankings of the most sought-after EVs by global search volume:

Electric vehicleGlobal search volume (based on 2022 Google Keyword Planner data)
Tesla Model 319,989,872
Kia EV615,815,185
Tesla Model Y13,908,451
Hyundai IONIQ 512,689,787
Tesla Model S11,459,099
Porsche Taycan10,511,286
Tesla Model X9,535,778
Polestar 28,212,142
Lexus RZ7,186,840
BMW i47,063,510

As you can see in the table above, the Tesla Model Y ranked third with nearly 14 million searches.

Notably, the second placer was the South Korean model Kia EV6 with over 15.5 million searches.

The Hyundai IONIQ 5 (12.6 million) and the Tesla Model S (11.4 million) completed the top five. It may surprise some that Ford and Stellantis, two legendary automakers, are not among the top 5 most searched EVs by the state in the US.

The analysts’ findings suggest a general increase in interest in electric vehicles. It also supports Tesla’s rise to the top of the EV market over the past decade or more.

Notably, the Tesla Model 3 significantly changed the company’s trajectory, propelling the American automaker to unprecedented growth on a global scale.

That said, the Elon Musk-led automaker has been improving the Model 3 to increase customers’ interest.
