American automaker Tesla is reportedly deploying more V4 Supercharger stations across the US after initially launching the fast-charging network in Europe.
Self-proclaimed car and travel enthusiast @anaganicp recently spotted new V4 Supercharger units in Sparks, Nevada. He further noted that Tesla will install these units by this week.
V4 Superchargers expansion
In retrospect, the Musk-led company initially deployed its 250 kW V3 Superchargers in the US and other countries in 2019.
After four years, it finally launched its next-gen V4 Superchargers in Europe in 2023. The first to receive these next-gen Superchargers is Harderwijk, Netherlands, in March 2023.
Now, Tesla has finally started installing them in its home market, as per recent reports. The comments on the X post suggest that the company has renovated an old charging station at McCarran/Lincoln Way behind Raising Caines.
Notably, Tesla is planning to develop new Supercharger stations and upgrade some existing ones to expand its V4 Superchargers in the US and eventually penetrate the entire region.
Recent sighting
EV-a2z reported yesterday the sightings of new V4 Superchargers in Wilsonville, Oregon. It is apparently the first-ever V4 Supercharger station in the US.
According to the Tesla Motor Club member UNCLe, Tesla was installing the piles of the Superchargers on Wednesday.
About V4 Superchargers
Tesla V4 Superchargers are expected to be open to all-electric vehicle models regardless of make. That said, the V4 Superchargers have longer charging cables and unique layouts to accommodate models with ports far from the stall. According to The Driven, the company lengthened the V4 Supercharger cables to 2.98 meters from just 1.98 meters.
Some units spotted in Europe also have card readers for customers who prefer to eliminate the use of the mobile app for payments.
Tesla confirmed that the new VR Superchargers are capable of 350 kW fast charging.
