Tesla is continuously improving customer satisfaction and providing good products, convenience, and service. As the company started the Semi Truck production, it is now working on improving the Megacharger it will use, according to Tesmanian.

The recent Tesla patent indicates the Semi Truck Megacharger will improve soon. The patent is described as a ‘Charging system with cooling system.’ It also includes additional charging connector or controller options.

Based on the same report, Tesla filed the patent on April 4, 2022. It described an improvement to a liquid-cooled charging cable and charger for charging electric vehicles, including semi-trailers.

Furthermore, Tesla wrote that improvements in EV components, such as batteries, have increased the demand for power provided by charging equipment. Some fast charging systems are designed to operate with a continuous current of 100 Amps or more. However, with the introduction of larger EVs, charging duties have increased. The company also noted that this might require charging cables at 2000 Amps or more.

Difficulties brought by higher current charging must be overcome. Notably, Tesla’s charging system protects it from overheating and charging cable damage.

In addition, using a liquid cooling system also results in a more convenient cable design and reduced heat exposure.

Tesla claims that Semis can travel around 500 miles on a single charge using less than 2 kWh per mile of energy consumption. Drivers can recharge up to 70% of range in 30 minutes using Tesla’s Semi Chargers.
