Tesla models dominates the top electric cars in the United States so far this year.
According to a study by the International Energy Agency, the United States lags behind Europe and China when it comes to EV sales. However, in the country itself, more consumers are now considering buying an EV. There is an increase in EV adoption over the previous year and this last quarter.
According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the United States has a 29% increase in EV deliveries compared to last year. The electric car sales in the U.S. have reached 208,411 during the first quarter of the year.
Currently, the most popular electric cars in the U.S. are from Tesla. They have dominated the top three in the list and their competition is not even close to them. According to data from electrek citing Experian, the most popular electric vehicles in the country right now are:

As the list shows, Tesla is still the leader with all its models in the top three. And even though the Model S is on a third of the list, it’s still 33% higher than the Ford Mustang. However, the report noted that these figures don’t show the demand for electric vehicles. Instead, it shows the production capacity or US allocation for each model.
Tesla is currently ramping their production to meet its increasing demand. It recently opened its Texas factory that will make Model Y deliveries in the United States.
