Indian manufacturer Tata Motors announced its domestic and international sales numbers for October 2022 and a noted year-over-year (YoY) growth of 15.5%.
According to HT Auto, the manufacturer sold 4,277 EV units last month, compared to 1,660 units in the same period the previous year. It sells electric versions of the Nexon, Tigor, and Tiago models.
Overall, the automaker sold 78,335 vehicles in October 2022, a noticeable growth from the recorded 67,829 units sold in the same month last year.
In addition, domestic October 2022 sales of passenger vehicles (PV) reached 45,423 units, up 33% from 33,925 units recorded for October 2021.
Domestic EV sales for October 2022
Tata Motors’ domestic sales accounted for 76,537 units in October 2022, reaching a steady growth of 17% from 65,151 in October 2021.
Notably, the brand is doing incredibly well in the Indian Market, and with its October 2022 sales record, the Tata Nexon is the 5th best-selling car on the list, while Tata Punch sits 8th on the spot.
The top 4 positions are taken by Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors as the second OEM on the list.
Furthermore, the Tata Nexon sold 14,518 units in October 2022, with year-over-year growth of 58%.
Tata Motors’ electric vehicle sales
The company sold 4,277 electric vehicles, including domestic and international business, in October 2022, a record growth of 158% from 1,660 units in October 2021.
The automaker launched the Tiago EV last month for about $10,000 (Rs. 8.49 lakh), becoming the most affordable EV on sale in India. The automaker continues to hail EVs in India with multiple EV model offerings like the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Nexon EV, and EV Max.
Commercial vehicles
The company’s total commercial vehicle sales for October 2022 reached 32,912, down 2% from 33,674 at the same time last year.
Domestic sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles for October 2022, including buses and trucks, are at 13,251 units. For comparison, 11,612 units were recorded for October 2021.
