As mentioned, the Subaru Solterra will be more expensive than the world’s best-selling vehicle, the Tesla Model Y. For context, the entry-level RWD variant’s price is only $65,400 before on-road costs and delivery fees. Meanwhile, the LR AWD variant starts at $78,400.
Timeline
Customers who already registered their interest in the Subaru Solterra EV in the last 12 months can now place pre-orders ahead of the public launch this November 8. They must pay a $500 refundable deposit with a chance to personally view the car and test drive.
Subaru also instructed its dealers to prepare for the arrival of the model’s first batch of vehicle deliveries for showroom display and test drives by the end of 2023 or early 2024, pending delays.
However, customer deliveries are expected to start in February or March 2024. The model may arrive alongside its twin Toyota BZ4X or weeks after it. The Solterra will only have limited stocks, pushing the company to employ a “first-come, first-served” rule.
As for new interested customers, Subaru plans to open the order book on Wednesday.
