California-based startup AC Future partnered with Italian legacy car designer Pininfarina to develop the eTH, which they revealed at CES 2024 in Las Vegas on January 9.
“Our collaboration with Pininfarina on the Electric Transformer House is not just about designing a living space; it’s about reimagining the way people experience off-grid living. With Pininfarina’s experience in innovative product design across industries, they were a natural fit for the partnership. We are tapping into the growing enthusiasm for mobile lifestyles among all demographics, and our innovative approach is strategically positioned to provide a unique experience that aligns with the eco-conscious values of our customers.

What’s special about the eTH?
The press release indicated that eTH stands for “Electric Transformer House,” an expandable electrified recreational vehicle that turns into an “off-grid luxury mini home.”
Impressively, it offers 400 sq ft of living space and a solar power system, among other things.
Interior
The eTH electric RV boasts a luxurious interior packed with multiple smart technologies.
Simply pushing the button will unlock the vehicle’s expandable walls with up to 400 square feet of living space. It is 20 feet long, but it can increase to 29 feet in House Mode.
Once expanded, it becomes a luxury mini home that can strongly compete with Airbnbs. The living room features a convertible sofa bed, ensuring comfort during rest times. Apart from the immense living and dining room, it also comes with a kitchen, a private bedroom, etc.
Its advanced cockpit supports driving, working, or even playing activities, with a flexible dashboard that turns into an “office desk.” It also has integrated entertainment and numerous driver-assist technologies.
Off-grid living capabilities
AC Future’s eTH electric RV taps into clean energy for a week of off-grid capabilities owing to its retractable solar panel roof that accumulates the sun’s power, generating more than 25 kWh.
According to Pininfarina, the eTH satisfies “families seeking short-distance adventures.”
It also features an Atmospheric Water Generator, which turns air moisture into more than 13 gallons of clean water daily.
In addition, it integrates Starlink to ensure a strong satellite internet connection wherever owners travel. Considering its capability to support a maximum of 7 days of off-grid living, it will surely come with a huge battery pack.
Unfortunately, the company has yet to announce the official powertrain specifications and pricing of the eTH. We can expect the model to have a premium price, given its luxurious features and high-tech capabilities.
Following the virtual reality reveal in Las Vegas, AC Future and Pininfarina will develop a Beta prototype. Excitingly, they expect to begin mass production in the fourth quarter of 2025, assuming that all goes according to plan.
