Chinese electric automaker NIO has just confirmed plans today to formally introduce the new EC6 on September 15, CnEVPost reported.
NIO plans to launch a special event to debut the all-electric smart coupe SUV at 8 pm (Beijing time) on Friday.
What’s currently known about the new NIO EC6?
The launch of the new NIO EC6 model will signify the brand’s complete shift to the latest NT 2.0 platform from the prior NT 1.0.
The upgraded EC6 will also complete NIO’s entry of eight electric vehicle models in the luxury segment.
Previous spy photos revealed the new EC6 ahead of its official debut. According to Electrek, the electric coupe SUV is 1,697 mm tall, 1,995 mm wide, and 4,849 mm long. Meanwhile, its wheelbase measures 2,915 mm.
It will apparently feature the company’s standard battery pack options, including 75 kWh, 100 kWh, and 150 kWh. It will also have twin electric motors that can generate a maximum output of 482 horsepower.
NIO has yet to announce the official pricing of the new EC6 model. However, according to the Chinese publication, the older N1.0-based EC6 has a price range of RMB 396,000, RMB 436,000, and RMB 496,000.
NIO begins accepting pre-orders
NIO immediately updated the EC6’s page in its official app to inform customers that it is already accepting pre-orders for the new model.
The company asks for a deposit fee of RMB 5,000 yuan to reserve the upcoming EC6. In return, customers can gain limited-time reservation benefits such as NIO Credits of RMB 1,000 once they lock their orders.

NIO initially offered the NT 1.0-based EC6 on December 28, 2019, and delivered them for the first time in September 2020. Now, the Chinese brand is set to complete its NT 2.0 transition as part of its intensified EV push.
The new EC6 will undoubtedly attract more customers to consider the brand in their shift to more sustainable mobility.
