Chinese electric vehicle brand BYD presents a new model at the 2022 Paris Motor Show, as per Auto Express.
The new BYD Seal is a compact saloon that went on sale in China and costs over £27,000 ($30,295). BYD has already unveiled its plans for Europe expansion and stated that the Seal could be produced in right-hand drive form.
It will likely make an appearance in the UK eventually.
The BYD Seal is the production version of the Ocean X, a concept car presented in 2021. The new model is 4,800 mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,460mm tall with a 2,920mm wheelbase.
The car is taller and longer compared to the Tesla Model 3. However, it is smaller than the Hyundai Ioniq 6.
Additionally, BYD’s ‘e-Platforn 3.0’ hardware sits the battery used as a part of the vehicle’s structure to improve rigidity and driving dynamics. It comes with either 61.4kWh or 82.5kWh battery units. It supplies power to the rear wheels to a 201bhp single motor or an all-wheel drive and a motor on each axle for 523bhp.
Charging speeds can be up to 150kW, while the Chinese efficiency tests have an estimated range of up to 342 miles for the BYD Seal equipped with a smaller battery. The larger one can go up to 435 miles.
The first model expected to be seen in the UK is the Atto 3. The Seal will be placed above the Atto 3 in size, the latter measures 4,455mm in length.
