German legacy automaker Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled its new long-haul electric semi, “eActros 600.”
The new model signifies the automaker’s goal of establishing a “new standard in road freight transport” and directly competing with the popular Tesla Semi.

It is characterized by highly innovative drive technology that can offer our customers particularly high energy efficiency and thus profitability. Design
The new eActros 600 features a minimalistic design with soft curves, Car Scoops noted. It also has a remarkable aerodynamic styling that substantially enhances fuel efficiency and performance.
It also boasts underbody paneling, air deflectors on A-pillars, matrix LED headlamps, and an extended cab for improved aerodynamics.
As for the interior, Mercedes-Benz indicated on its official website that the interior design of the new eActros 600 “fulfills the highest standards for driving, working and living comfort.” It features high-end materials and remarkable interior elements that give a sense of workplace and living area.
Technical details
Mercedes-Benz’s eActros 600 offers a payload capacity of approximately 22 tons. It also features three lithium iron phosphate batteries that generate a total capacity of 621 kWh. These batteries also power the new 800v electric axle with two electric motors.
In effect, the eActros 600 can generate a continuous output of 536 horsepower (400 kW/544 PS). It also boasts a peak output of 805 horsepower (600 kW/816 PS)
It claims to have a driving range of 500 km (311 miles). According to the company, about 60% of customers’ long-distance trips are actually shorter than this range.
Mercedes further believes that the electric semi can “travel significantly more than 1,000 km (621 miles) per day” as long as its battery state of charge is sustained during a mandatory driver break.

Mercedes-Benz plans to commence the production of the eActros 600 in late 2024, while sales will start as early as this year. According to the company, the electric semi will offer a maximum charging capacity of 400 kW. However, it plans to upgrade to megawatt charging that can support 30-minute charging from 20% to 80%.
