Notably, the plan aligns with Mays Motors’ goals to explore into prospective car segments in the country. In fact, its first electric car product Mays iE1 has already enticed over 500 customers for early reservations.

“We are committed to bringing out cars of the highest standard and quality because, as you know, we are competing not just locally but globally. And in the car industry there are lots of options – which is why it’s necessary for us to differentiate ourselves with new technology and attractive designs.”

The automaker noted the increasing demand for SUVs in the Omani market, prompting the company to penetrate the segment. Remarkably, Mays Motors targets 2024 for the new Mays SUV’s launch.

“We have managed to complete the concept of the new Mays SUV car. We see there a high demand in the SUV segment, which made us enter this segment. If we finish our investor negotiations within the next months, then we shall be able to launch this car into the market by next year.”

It is interesting to note that this recent announcement emerged on Mays iE1’s first year of formal launch grand celebration at Al Bustan Palace. Oman Technology Fund’s (OTF) representative and other major investors attended the special event.

The Omani company boasts that it has progressed since the groundwork preparation for the Mays iE1. It specified the partnerships it formed with major international suppliers and manufacturers for the key components of the Mays cars.

“We have managed to partner with the biggest global suppliers and manufacturers to make the essential parts for Mays cars. We have also learnt from their experiences during our visits to some of the global factories. This will help us get to market faster and at lower costs.”

Furthermore, Mays Motors has also successfully completed its modern modular chassis which can handle any car types. It was also deemed safe by the New Car Assessment Programme.

“It enables you to build and design different types of cars within the same chassis platform. This chassis has also passed all the safety tests as per the tests of the NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme).”

The upcoming “performance electric car” will have a top speed of 280 km/hr and a range of about 500 km on a single charge. It is apparently a five-door, five-seater SUV.
