Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, commented several times that both Lucid and Rivian will have a hard time reaching their goal. Based on Tesla’s experience with the global pandemic chip shortage and issue in the supply of automotive start-ups.
As both automotive groups find their way regardless of the struggle, Rivian prepares a vision for a new factory and Lucid is taking an action in the enlargement of their production factory in Casa Grande, Arizona.
Pinal country has leased new land from 14 property owners at Lucid’s Casa Grande facility, costing $113.5 million. This expands Lucid’s available acres up to 2,000. According to Teslarati, it could make an electric startup automaker’s manufacturing campus and could hire as many as 6,000 new employees.
Although there was no specified plan for the expansion, it is said that there will be an available Customer Experience Center. This center will require expansion roads and the cost is said to be shouldered by Casa Grande.
According to the previous report, another plan of Lucid is to step up with another factory expansion in Arizona this 2023. The land can be used for the production of 40,000 EVs annually along with other buildings.
In the Q2 report, Lucid struggled with production, the automaker only delivered 700 cars. Furthermore, with the help of monumental issues related to supply chains and logistics an estimation of 50% is calculated for 2022.
