South Korean automaker Kia announced plans to boost its electrification strategy by developing electric vehicles for each market segments. Therefore, it will soon complete the EV1 to EV9 lineup.
One of these planned models includes the “baby crossover” Kia EV4, which spy photographers recently encountered in Europe for the first time.
Kia EV4 exterior
The Kia EV4 is heavily disguised in a camouflage cover. Nonetheless, it can clearly show the brand’s iconic features. It rides on attractive triangular wheels with metallic strips.
Its LED headlights are vertically piled. Its black pillars also reflect those of its siblings, EV5 and EV9. Meanwhile, its taillight layout at the rear seems identical to the EV6 crossover.
The EV4’s body sports a boxy shape due to the C-pillar’s vertical feature. Unfortunately, the automaker also covered the rear end of the EV. Therefore, we cannot see if there is another side window behind. The spy shots also failed to capture the EV’s interior.
As for the technical details, Kia has yet to announce the EV’s powertrain specs. Nonetheless, Motor.1 anticipates the model to use the new Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).
CarScoops also expects the EV4 to feature a 400V battery and a single electric motor. The report noted that the specs of the EV4 are lower than the other Kia EV models. In effect, it can sell for cheaper prices, potentially under the $30,000 mark.
It is worth noting that Kia disclosed its plans in 2022 to update the platform’s hardware to improve driving range, performance, and charging capabilities.

Kia’s planned EV1 to EV9 portfolio would undoubtedly boost its global sales and solidify its position in its key markets. Notably, Kia aims to reach sales of 1.6 million EVs by 2030.
However, it must be noted that some of these models would only launch for certain regions.
