Canadian tech giant BlackBerry has just announced that a major electric vehicle consortium, led by iPhone maker Foxconn, will tap its cutting-edge software and services for the development of a three-model.
BlackBerry indicated that the Mobility in Harmony consortium aims to utilize its QNX and Ivy technologies in building the EV’s platform under “Project X.”
For those unaware, BlackBerry’s QNX is a software platform supported by the cloud and AI. Meanwhile, Ivy is an in-car software platform that enables companies to monetize data.

Purpose
For context, the Mobility in Harmony consortium consists of major players in the electric vehicle industry, including the following:
- Software company Microsoft
- South Korean power battery giant LGES
- Luxury electric automaker Karma Automotive
- Canadian tech giant BlackBerry
The Mobility in Harmony consortium primarily aims to develop and produce a single-row, three-seat electric vehicle. As of now, the EV has a codename, “Project X.”
The consortium will specifically develop the planned EV for Asian buyers.
Project X is expected to hit the Japanese EV market as soon as this year. Soon after, the consortium will unveil the new six-seat and nine-seat models.
