Hyundai Motor Co announced that its Hyundai and Genesis brand’s plug-in car wholesale shipments volume saw year-on-year growth of 51% to 24,831 in November 2022, as per InsideEVs. It demonstrates the company’s third straight monthly record, with over 7% of its total wholesale volume.
Notably, battery-electric vehicles significantly contributed to the total plug-in results in November.

Hyundai brand
Sales of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles were both at new highs for the Hyundai brand, accounting for most of the automaker’s sales. Nearly 20,000 all-electric vehicles were among the 23,204 wholesale shipments, which saw a 47% year-over-year growth.

- PHEVs: 3,331 (up 10%)
- Total plug-ins: 23,204 (up 47%)
- FCVs: 1,176 (up 24%)
As for the year-to-date results, more than 150,000 of Hyundai’s wholesale shipments of plug-in electric cars this year have been all-electric models, totaling close to 200,000.
For the first time, the number of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles sold in a calendar year was greater than 10,000. For reference, FCEV sales were only 9,620 last year.

Model results
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 leads the automaker’s lineup with its total sales of over 10,000 in November and 89,416 units this year to date. It is followed by the Hyundai Kona Electric with its 5,774 wholesale shipments. Meanwhile, the all-new Hyundai Ioniq 6 catches up to its siblings with 3,905 units.

Genesis brand
Genesis reported wholesale shipments of 1,627 EVs (GV60, GV70, and G80). Notably, 971 of that number is contributed by the GV60.
On the other hand, more than 17,500 electric vehicles have been sold by Genesis so far this year. The Genesis GV60 dominates the list with its 10,208 units. It is followed by the Genesis Electrified G80 (3,929) and Genesis Electrified GV70 (3,458).
It would not be surprising to see another triumph in December for Hyundai Motor Co. given these outstanding achievements for the company’s plugin vehicle sales.
