South Korean legacy automaker Hyundai has just received another accolade for its award-winning IONIQ 5. According to the press release, the electric SUV won the US-focused automotive classified platform Cars.com’s “Best Electric Vehicle of 2024” award for the second consecutive year on February 7, 2024.
“This is the second year in a row the Hyundai IONIQ 5 won our Best Electric Vehicle — and rightfully so. Its speedy charging, abundant yet easy-to-use tech and avant-garde styling makes it a well-balanced ride for those looking to purchase an EV.”

Evaluation process
Cars.com qualifies any 2024 model year battery-electric vehicle models, either new or fully revamped. The evaluation excluded all gas-electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.
It focused on three major criteria: overall excellence, ride quality, and charging speed.
Hyundai IONIQ 5’s winning attributes
The automotive digital marketplace cited the Hyundai IONIQ 5’s “near-ideal balance of attributes” for winning the Best Electric Vehicle title again this year.
Cars.com outlined the South Korean electric SUV’s remarkable qualities, including the following:
- “roomy, versatile cabin within relatively tidy exterior dimensions
- avant-garde styling that doesn’t neglect everyday practicality
- a simple, easy-to-use control layout that still packs in lots of useful technology features”
Apart from the above mentioned attributes, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 also offers improved safety features as standard for the model years 2022 and 2024. Some of these features include rear-side impact airbags, a Wi-Fi hot spot, steering-wheel haptic feedback for blind spot collision avoidance, and lane departure steering assist systems.
Cars.com also complimented the IONIQ 5’s DC fast charging capability that supports up to 350 kilowatts.
As for the ride quality, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 is apparently more absorbent over bumpy roads and rough pavement compared to many electric vehicles available today.
