Honda announced a new light commercial electric van ideal for business and personal use to launch in spring 2024, as per the press release by the company.
Honda’s $7,300 electric van
With a starting price of ¥1 million ($7,300), the new EV is based on Honda’s light van, ‘N-VAN,’ released in 2018. However, with the increasing demand for zero-emission electric vehicle options for personal and business use, the company will carry the qualities current consumers love the most and convert it into an electric version, according to Electrek.
The automaker says that its new electric van will come with the high level of quietness and powerful acceleration of an EV. The model features a high degree of arrangement, large-capacity, and easy-to-use luggage space realized by eliminating the center pillar on the passenger side.
Although the company does not release specifics, the automaker aims to reach 200 km (124 miles) of cruising range.
According to the manufacturer, the range is “practical enough to be used not only for commercial use, but also for daily shopping, commuting to work or school, and hobby use,” adding the low cost would help boost EV deployment and the realization of carbon neutrality.
Notably, Honda is putting its light EV van through different tests in business settings ahead of its spring 2024 launch.
Going forward, we plan to verify the practicality of the vehicle in various business settings in preparation for its launch in the spring of 2024. Through this, we will further refine usability as a light commercial EV and enhance its marketability.
