American legacy automaker General Motors debuted the new Chevy Silverado in China, marking the model’s first-ever appearance overseas.
The Chevy Silverado EV arrived at the highly awaited China International Import Expo that kicked off from November 5th to the 10th in Shanghai. The new model debuted under GM’s premium import business, The Durant Guild.
Jubilee model
GM claimed that the Chevy Silverado EV attracted significant attention at the expo. According to GM Authority, the Jubilee model was a blue-colored Silverado EV RST trim.
It is apparently the same model variant GM exhibited at various auto shows since the end of 2022. However, it is somehow different from the first edition model of the RST trim that debuted at the 2022 CES.
The latest model that arrived in China has a bigger lower grille and glossier black front details.
What’s currently known about the Chevy Silverado?
GM boasts that the new Chevy Silverado EV significantly reshapes the nameplate’s overall performance, capability, and versatility. It rides on its parent company’s Ultium platform, supporting a driving range of up to 450 miles range.
It also generates a maximum output of 754 horsepower and a towing capacity of up to 10,000 lbs, Electrek indicated.
The model can also accelerate from 0 to 60 times with wide-open watts in just 4.5 seconds.
The Chevy Silverado EV’s launch in the market is part of GM’s wider strategy to phase out its internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles by 2035. It would pose a major competition against electric pickup rivals, like the Tesla Cybertruck and Rivian R1T, among others.
