Chinese power battery giant CATL continued to lead the global electric vehicle battery market in November with a 40.9% share, as per CnEVPost. It is trailed by another Chinese EV and battery firm BYD with a 15.6% market share.
EV battery deployed worldwide – November
SNE Research’s latest data indicated that the EV battery installed in November 2022 increased by 170% year-on-year to 57.2 GWh.

CATL’s EV battery deployment saw a YoY growth of 83.4% to 23.4 GWh in November. It led the market with a market share of 40.9%, representing an increase from the previous month’s 37.6% record.
EV and battery giant BYD secured the second spot with a 15.6% share, representing a decline from October’s 16.2% market share. It deployed 8.9 GWh in November, indicating a YoY growth of 147.6%.
LG Energy Solution’s installation saw a YoY increase of 28% to 6.8 GWh in November. It held the third-place position with an 11.9% market share.
Japan’s Panasonic in 4th place completes the top 5 with a 5.8% market share, and South Korea’s Samsung SDI in 5th place with a 5.3% market share.
Global EV battery market share – January to November
Between January and November 2022, EV battery firms deployed 446.0 GWh of electric car batteries worldwide. Remarkably, that number represents a YoY growth of 74.7%.
CATL led the industry with a market share of 37.1% and installed a power battery volume of 165.7 GWh from January to November. BYD ranked second with a 13.6% market share, followed by LG Energy Solution with a 12.3% share worldwide.
