Electrify America is among the electric vehicle charging providers infamous for mass outages or broken chargers in the United States. In a significant development, the Volkswagen-backed company is now attempting to revolutionize customer experience with the launch of its first indoor charging hub that offers a wide range of amenities drivers would love.
Electrify America erects inaugural indoor charging hub EV
Electrify America officially inaugurated its first indoor fast-charging hub in San Francisco early this month. The airport lounge-like charging hub rose at 928 Harrison Street, near the Bay Bridge, as per the press release.
The luxurious concept of the charging hub has already been explored by numerous automakers like Audi, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz, opening numerous standalone hubs that have interior accommodations similar to airport lounges.
What makes Electrify America’s new charging hub different is its indoor charging design, enabling drivers to charge inside a standalone facility instead of a parking garage.
What’s special about the charging hub?
Electrify America’s flagship indoor charging station in San Francisco offers 20 hyper-fast chargers. Each charger supports up to 350 kilowatts (kW) output.
The two temperature-controlled lounge areas also come with free high-speed Wi-Fi connection, two restrooms with baby changing stations, and 24/7 on-site security. In addition, the new charging hub also offers food and beverage vending machines for drivers waiting for their electric vehicles to finish charging.
Electrify America has no plans to stop the innovations there as it also aims to expand the futuristic charging hub developments in metropolitan areas across the US.
“We’re committed to making EVs accessible to all, particularly in dense urban areas like San Francisco. Our expertise in building over 250 stations in California and more than 900 in North America uniquely positions us to bring high-quality charging infrastructure directly into communities where people live and work and support EV adoption across the state.”

About Electrify America
Electrify America now operates 900 fast-charging sites with a total of 4,000 charging stations in North America. The company further aims to expand its charging network by increasing the number of its charging points as existing stations and commissioning new locations.
It also plans to add Tesla’s NACS plug across its enormous charging stations in the US to improve its chargers’ accessibility. Its Canadian counterpart, Electrify Canada, has also announced it would adopt the Musk-led company’s charging standard.
This innovative indoor charging hub can significantly aid the US in breaking the stereotype in the US electric vehicle charging industry, involving broken chargers and mass outages.
