Considerations
It must be noted that some figures indicate a 1 ft rollout subtracted, particularly for performance electric vehicles like Lucid Air and Tesla Model S Plaid.
There is apparently no consistent dataset, resulting in the inevitable inclusion of uncertainty of 0.1-0.2 seconds. The official value might vary depending on the trims and extra options.
Some figures are also just estimates, so it would be best for interested buyers to first check the brand’s official website.
As for battery capacity, it is usually the total amount. However, some automakers disclose usable value or omit to share that value.
Conclusions
As you can observe in the ranking, there are virtually no slow-accelerating electric vehicle models on the market. In fact, the majority of the models can now beat average new gas-powered vehicles.
Tesla challenger Lucid led the ranking with its 2024 Lucid Air Sapphire, boasting an acceleration of s 0-60 mph in just 1.89 seconds. It managed to beat Tesla’s flagship Model S Plaid with a 1.99-second record.
Impressively, about a fifth of all electric vehicle configurations in this ranking can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds or even less. These remarkable results highlight the continuous improvement in electric vehicle technology as electric automakers seek to close the gap with traditional cars’ performance.
