Hongqi New Energy, the clean energy vehicle unit of FAW Group-owned Hongqi luxury brand, is preparing to launch its inaugural offering that will ride on the new-gen FMEs platform.
According to Car News China, the new Hongqi EH7 electric sedan will officially hit the Chinese market on March 20, 2024.
Design
The Hongqi EH7, codenamed “E00,” will mark the sub-brand’s first electric vehicle model in China. It rides on the luxury brand’s FMEs platform, featuring a fastback shape and enclosed front face.
The model’s front face also has sharp “L”-shaped headlights on both sides, highlighting its electric vehicle attribute. It also features concealed door handles, five-spoke rims with a red Brembo brake caliper, and a panoramic sunroof. Its taillights have 285 LED units delivering a three-dimensional effect to improve its visibility on the road.
Inside, the Hongqi EH7’s cockpit features a mix of black and white design. It has a 6″ and 15.5″ curved dual touchscreen for the instrument panel and central control screen. It also offers an AR head-up display and autonomous driving features.
Power and performance
Hongqi New Energy will offer two motor configurations for the new EH7 electric sedan. Both variants use CATL’s ternary lithium battery packs and 800V architecture.
According to Licarco, the new model will yield a maximum output of 619 horsepower and 756 Nm of torque. It can also accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 km/h.
The swappable battery option reportedly delivers a CLTC-rated driving range of 600 kilometers, while the fixed battery model with ~120 kWh capacity enables an 820 km range.
It also supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes and a HAP autonomous driving system.
Hongqi’s “All in New Energy” campaign
Hongqi formally launched its “All in New Energy” drive, which involves the electrification of all its electric vehicle models.
In the following three years, the sub-brand aims to introduce 15 NEV models across all market segments (including A, B, C, D, SUVs, and MPVs).
Therefore, the new EH7 electric sedan will a significant role in Hongqi New Energy’s goals to advance in the Chinese electric vehicle market amid the growing dominance of local brand BYD and American giant Tesla. Excitingly, the company will finally launch the new electric sedan on March 20, 2024, potentially disrupting the local market.
