Norwegian YouTuber Bjørn Nyland recently tested BYD Atto 3‘s range in Thailand, which shows off its potential to compete in the BEV segment, as reported by InsideEVs.
About BYD Atto 3
BYD Atto 3 is the global version of China‘s BYD Yuan Plus, a C-segment crossover/SUV. It is among the most popular BEVs, selling about 30,000 units in November alone.
The electric crossover/SUV has already penetrated numerous countries, including the Australian market. Now, it plans to enter European and Japanese markets soon.
Results
The BYD Atto 3 with a 60.48 kWh battery is the electric crossover/SUV that was put through the range test. Notably, it is anticipated to have a 420 km (261 miles) WLTP range, as opposed to 320 km (199 miles) with the 49.92 kWh battery variant.
Interestingly, Bjørn Nyland discovered that the BYD Atto 3 could surpass the WLTP range rating in favorable weather at 25°C.
The video claims that the average energy consumption at a speed of 90 km/h (56 mph) was 134 Wh/km (216 Wh/mile).
Meanwhile, the projected 59.6 kWh usable battery capacity combined with the driving range resulted in a maximum distance of 445 km (277 miles).
