German automaker BMW confirmed plans to unveil the new EV model variants at the Munich Motor Show this year.
For context, this special motor show is a biennial event in Germany. It will host the official debut of new offerings from established local brands.
BMW’s planned lineup for the upcoming motor show
For starters, BMW aims to present the PHEV 5 Series, BMW i7 Protection, and the world’s first-ever armored i7 EV.
BMW will also present the 5er PHEV to complete its EV lineup. CarBuzz reported that two models will have four- or six-cylinder gas engines. The automaker incorporated the EV’s new electric motor into the eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver remarkable performance.
The BMW 550e xDrive Sedan boasts a combined capacity of 483 horsepower. Its electric power can deliver a range of 49 – 56 miles.
The lower spec 530e variant can generate approximately 295 hp. Meanwhile, its electric power can generate 54 – 63 miles range.
However, these electric driving ranges are WLTP-based figures. Therefore, customers must not be surprised if there would be changes in the US.
The BMW 5 Series PHEV models feature a 19.4 kWh battery pack integrated within their underbody. In effect, its trunk storage gets a bigger space of 18.4 cubic feet.
Apart from these, BMW will also launch the iX1 crossover, iX SUV, i4 Gran Coupe, and the iX5 HEV, which are unavailable in the US.
The iX5 HEV has a maximum output of 396 hp. It can also accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just six seconds. It also has a 112 mph top speed and a WLTP range of 313 miles.
BMW will also debut the compact e-scooter CE 02 model. The company expects the CE 02 to appeal to customers in urban cities who prefer an attractive vehicle.
