Lucid Air Pure achieves unprecedented 5 miles/kWh efficiency

According to the press release, the 2025 Lucid Air Pure has achieved record-setting results of 5.0 miles per kilowatt hour of energy and 146 MPGe EPA rating.

For context, the 2025 Lucid Air Pure delivers an EPA-rated driving range of 420 miles from its 84 kWh battery pack.

Lucid claims that these results have advanced the 2025 Lucid Air Pure’s position as the new most energy-efficient car ever made in the world.

Design Math

Lucid managed to make the 2025 Lucid Air Pure the world’s new most efficient car ever made by leveraging smaller battery packs.

This strategy enables the company to pack fewer raw materials into the battery, paving the way for lower production costs. As a result, Lucid can offer the Air luxury sedan at a lower cost to further attract customers.

Lucid $LCID has announced that its 2025 Lucid Air Pure has achieved a new milestone as the world's most efficient car, delivering 5 miles per kWh. Peter Rawlinson stated, "The innovations made across the Lucid Air lineup for 2025 reinforce our leadership position." pic.twitter.com/066FZ8w45X

Smaller, more efficient batteries also require less demand on the electricity grid to recharge. On top of that, Lucid’s cutting-edge 800V architecture continues to be the groundwork for the electric sedan’s design.

“When it is time to recharge, the smaller pack in Lucid Air Pure reduces the demands on public power grids and enables adding more miles with less energy while fast charging on road trips.”

Major updates

Lucid Motors outlined that the same heat pump it initially fitted into the top-tier Sapphire variant is now standard across the 2025 Air lineup. This component apparently enhances real-world range.

Lucid Air EVs also now have a more powerful infotainment processor that substantially improves user experience. Considering that software bugs are among the major drawbacks of the Air luxury sedan, this upgrade is indeed another boost to the model that excels in almost all other categories.

“The advancements introduced across the Lucid Air lineup for 2025 further cement our leadership position. Lucid Air is the very embodiment of our relentless approach to optimization, enabling Air Pure to use less electrical energy than any other vehicle for any journey taken, A to B.”

Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO of Lucid
