Kia introduces the new 2024 EV6 Light Long Range trim with two available drivetrain configurations, including the cheaper Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) and the All Wheel Drive (AWD).
The move is part of the South Korean automaker’s efforts to offer a model with a competitive driving range for an affordable price.
Price difference
Cars Direct reported that the new Kia EV6 Light Long Range trims would have a lower price than the EV6 with the 77.4kWh battery pack by up to $2,750.
The Kia EV6 Light Long Range will seat between the Light and Wind trims. For context, the Light Long Range RWD has a base price of MSRP of $45,950 before the shipping fee.
As mentioned, it is $2,750 cheaper than the Wind trim’s $48,700 starting price for the same battery. The Light Long Range AWD has also advanced as the cheapest dual-motor variant, $2,750 lower than the Wind AWD’s price of $52,600.
However, the Kia EV6 Light Long Range is more expensive than the EV6 Light Standard Range trim by $3,350. It has a base price of $42,600 for a 58 kWh battery pack.
Driving range differences
The 2024 Kia EV6 Light standard range has a 58 kWh battery pack, enabling an EPA-estimated driving range of 232 miles.
Meanwhile, the Kia EV6 Wind RWD offers a driving range of 310 miles. Reports suggest that the Light Long Range RWD will also offer the same driving range as the Wind trim.
However, Kia has yet to confirm whether these two trims have the same driving range.
