2. New Features in 2023

Rivian has no plans to launch any significant upgrades or changes in the R1S electric SUV’s 2024 model year.

However, it must be noted that Rivian does not follow the common strategy of updating its EVs on a model-year basis. Therefore, the R1S may get changes to features and pricing throughout the year.

3. Design and Aesthetics

A. Exterior design and style

Rivian developed the R1S to carry seven passengers. It sports a sleek and contemporary exterior design, which integrates functionality with a trace of ruggedness. It has capsule-shaped LED projector headlights flanking an aggressive horizontal light bar. It also has an aerodynamic design, with 21-inch or 22-inch wheel options.

Meanwhile, here are the dimensions of the 2024 Rivian R1S:

b. Interior design and materials

The 2024 Rivian R1S comes with a contemporary and functional interior design. Its minimalistic approach offers the cabin a neat and uncluttered look with an emphasis on horizontal lines.

Rivian utilized sustainable materials for the R1S’s interior, including vegan leather, recycled plastics, and renewable bio-polymers.

The R1S rides on the same platform as the R1T electric truck. It features three rows of seats. It is also available in various configurations, including a five-seat variant with a large cargo area. It comes with comfortable and supportive seats, aligning with the model’s spacious cabin.

The driver’s seat is also power-adjustable with a memory function, enabling owners to easily find their ideal driving position. It also has an adjustable steering wheel.

Both the Rivian R1S and Kia EV9 are enticing options in the large electric SUV market. The Rivian R1S is perfect for adventure enthusiasts owing to its focus on performance and off-road prowess. Meanwhile, the Kia EV9 is a better option for families seeking a spacious, cozy, and potentially more affordable e-SUV.

A. Available Trims, options, and pricing

Adventure$74,900
Adventure All-Terrain$87,600
Launch Edition$93,800

The 2024 Rivian R1S is undoubtedly an enticing all-electric SUV with a wide range of features to offer. However, its high pricing and new brand make it a huge investment risk for buyers. Therefore, interested customers must carefully mull the electric SUV’s benefits and disadvantages.

11. Conclusion

Rivian’s 2024 R1S is indeed a competitive electric SUV, especially for customers who prioritize solid performance, off-road capability, and an elegant interior with generous cabin space. However, these remarkable qualities come at a high price.

Choosing the Adventure model, as the standard 533-hp dual-motor powertrain should be sufficient for most drivers. It would also be ideal to add the Large battery pack worth $6,000. It delivers a 352-mile driving range for the Rivian R1S electric SUV.
