Ford‘s famous Mustang Mach-E is the company’s first official entrance into the electric vehicle industry.

In hindsight, the all-electric crossover SUV debuted on November 17, 2019. It officially hit the EV market in December of the following year as a 2021 model in the form of an enormous SUV.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E offers two battery configurations: Standard Range and Extended Range. Notably, both battery configurations have RWD and AWD options.

The regular models come with three power outputs and two or four-wheel drive configurations. Meanwhile, the top trim Mach-E GT features all-wheel drive, the larger of the two batteries, and a significant increase in speed.

Performance

Standard RWD and AWD

The base trim Standard RWD is equipped with a 265bhp motor. It boasts an acceleration of 0-62mph in just 6.9 seconds. Meanwhile, it has an official range of 273 miles. However, What Car’s real-world range test only demonstrated 211 miles range.

As expected, the Standard Range AWD offers a battery and power capacity similar to the RWD model. However, it has a motor that powers each of its tires. The acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes just 6.3 seconds and provides somewhat improved traction. The drawback is that its claimed range has been reduced to 248 miles.

Extended Range RWD and AWD

The Extended Range RWD has a bigger battery that delivers a 290bhp. Interestingly, it is slightly slower than Standard Range models by 0.1 seconds. Remarkably, its claimed range is 379 miles.

On the other hand, the Extended Range AWD has a 346bhp dual motor, enabling a faster acceleration of 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds.

The door mirrors of the EV tend to make some moderate wind noise. At highway speeds, there is little road noise, but the suspension thumps a lot on uneven ground.

Mustang Mach-E GT

The GT model is equipped with more potent electric motors, reaching an overall brake horsepower of 480. It can accelerate from 62mph in just 3.7 seconds. Meanwhile, its official range is 310 miles.

Interior

The entry-level trim’s manually adjustable seat does not have adjustable lumbar support. It has a complex lever to change the backrest angle. Nonetheless, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has a decent driving position. It can also be adjusted for height.

Bro, nliita taxi nkakujiwa na Ford Mustang 2023 Mach E. Bloody, sikua naamini shit. Kwanza mlango haufungui kama za kawaida. Iko na button. Ushamba yangu ya kuwekwa boot ya probox haingejua hio. All AWD variants come equipped with an eight-way electrically adjustable front seat with standard lumbar support. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line Mach-E GT vehicles come standard with comfortable sports seats.

The front seats of the Mach-E are set rather far apart to provide room for a large center console. There are cupholders, a wireless charging pad, and some useful cubbies so people won’t bump elbows or shoulders.

The Mustang Mach-E offers the following features to improve its rear visibility:

  • standard-fit front and rear parking sensors
  • a rear-view camera.
  • LED headlights (adaptive LED headlights on AWD variants)

Furthermore, it has buttons on the steering wheel that are tactilely easy to spot. Moreover, temperature controls span the touchscreen’s bottom and are constantly displayed. The level of the sound system can also be adjusted using a physical knob. Most especially, it has an enormous 15.5 inches portrait-oriented infotainment screen at the dashboard’s center.

The infotainment system offers the following features:

  • sat-nav
  • Android Auto
  • Apple CarPlay smartphone capability

Apart from those, the Mustang Mach-E also has a wireless phone charger.

The main boot has a height-adjustable bottom that eliminates the bothersome load lip. Seven carry-on bags can fit under the tonneau cover because it has a 402-liter volume. Its rear seats can also fold in a 60/40 setting.

Exterior

The roof and lower body of the electric crossover are covered in a gloss black surface. It deceives the eye into believing that coupé lines are present on a vehicle that is actually fairly huge and tall. Overall, it’s an incredibly precise reflection of the Mustang design DNA.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E boasts an iconic aesthetic design, including the following:

  • tri-bar tail-lights
  • the long, high bonnet
  • muscular rear haunches
  • a cab-rear stance
  • angry headlight ‘brow’

Another interesting fact is that the Mach-E is one of the lighter electric cars of this size, weighing only 2010 kg. That weight is attributable to the battery placement of the car, which is installed throughout the floor plan.

Charging

The maximum charging rate for the Extended Range model’s 88kWh (usable) battery is 150kW. It indicates a 10-80% charge can be completed in around 45 minutes.

On the other hand, Standard Range models only have a 115kW maximum charging rate. The battery is smaller, so a 10-80% charge can be obtained in as little as 38 minutes.

Depending on the size of the battery, owners can anticipate a 10-80% charge at a conventional 50kW motorway service station in 75 or 90 minutes.
