Zeekr, Geely Group’s premium electric vehicle brand, has been spied amid its preparation for the Zeekr X EV‘s European launch. Motor1.com provided the spy shots, showing the EV being tested on a frozen lake in Sweden.

For context, the Chinese automaker has already introduced the premium EV to its home market. It was initially named “003,” but the brand later changed it to X. Geely claims that the new model “represents infinite inspiration, exploration, and imagination that Zeekr looks for.”

As previous reports suggest, Geely has long been planning to expand in Europe with its electric vehicles. Apparently, the Zeekr X will be the brand’s first offering in the continent, first penetrating EV-friendly countries such as Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden.

About the Zeekr X

Design

Interestingly, Geely appears to have maintained the Zeekr X’s Chinese version design, as apparent in the spy shots. Visible portions of the design match closely with the version for China. If you compare, the visible elements of the design closely resemble the China-specific variant.

The Zeekr X sports a unique snout and angular running lights on the bonnet. Below these, Geely strategically placed the main headlights of the car, where its ICE counterpart’s grille holes are located.

The lower fascia has a trapezoidal entrance, while the outer sides have air curtains. Furthermore, the urban SUV features a beltline in the profile that extends at the rear. The lower front doors and the upper part of the rear are connected by a crease that is visible from certain perspectives. The Zeekr X also has full-width taillights on its rounded tail.

German car designer Stefan Sielaff led the design team of the Zeekr X at the brand’s Global Design Center in Gothenburg, Sweden, per Zeekr. The company claims its designers “pushed the frontier of urban SUV.” It further noted that the Zeekr X is equipped with frameless doors and outside frameless mirrors for a sleek appearance and improved aerodynamics.

Unfortunately, the spy photos do not show a peek inside the cabin. Interior shots are likewise missing from the EV’s Chinese model gallery.

As for its top speed, the Chinese model can go 62 mph (100 kph) in just approximately 4.0 seconds.

Notably, Geely‘s Sustainable Experience Architecture serves as the platform for Zeekr X. It will officially launch in China in Q2 2023. Afterward, the automaker will debut it in European countries, including Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
