Volkswagen, the German automobile manufacturer, received 10,000 orders for its ID Buzz electric van and is almost sold out for the year.

The newest version of the iconic VW minibus, the ID Buzz, has just been unveiled, featuring a more luxurious EV while maintaining some details of the old version. It has a battery pack size of 82 kWh, decent enough to allow 200 miles of range with different seat configurations.

The unexpected price of the VW ID Buzz electric van of around £57,115 (~$67,500) compared to the initially anticipated price did not stop consumers from actually buying it, as proven by VW’s announcement that more than 10,000 orders were already placed in Europe.

According to a report, the ID Buzz is manufactured in VW’s plant in Hanover, Germany, and its head of sales, Lars Krause, unveiled the number of plants to employees: “Volkswagen’s ID Buzz full-electric van is already sold out for months before the start of deliveries, with advance sales having now passed the 10,000 mark, led by demand in Norway, followed by Germany.”

Aside from Norway with 3,400 ID Buzz orders and Germany with 2,500 ID Buzz orders, Netherlands and Belgium have also ordered 1,100 and 1,000 electric vans, respectively. Krause also announced that sales of the ID Buzz electric van hardly started in France and the UK, where it could prove popular in the market.

It is not a secret that VW’s plan for the year is only to produce about 15,000 units, and it must be noted that 10,000 units have already been ordered, which means ID Buzz is about to be sold out.

Considering the rapid selling out of the VW ID Buzz electric van, the company stepped up its game to produce 60,000 units next year compared to the planned 15,000 units this year. The exciting news is that once the electric van reaches North America, the automaker is looking to produce 130,000 units annually.
