Swedish truck maker Volvo Trucks is on track to commence the production of its inaugural electric-only truck FM Low Entry in the second quarter of the year, just several months after launching sales in Q1 2O24.
The launch of the new FM Low Entry is a crucial part of the automaker’s efforts to electrify its product portfolio.
Design and other features
Volvo Trucks claims that it developed its first electric-only truck to deliver safe and efficient driving in city areas, offering remarkable driver visibility and heavy cargo capacity.
In addition, it offers the Volvo Dynamic Steering system to enable seamless steering and lower vibrations along with the new advanced Camera Monitor System.
The electric truck comes with three seat configurations, including Driver + 0, 1, or 3 passengers. It also has a flat floor, low instep, and strategically placed grab handles to enable easy exit and access. The model also offers two height options, including the Sleeper cab (1575 mm) and the Extended/High Sleeper (1945 mm).
“The truck is based on Volvo’s well-known FM model. The spacious cab has been lowered and moved forward, and the low instep and flat floor makes it easy to enter and exit the truck. These design features create an ergonomic, comfortable and efficient working environment for drivers in busy city locations.”
