Swedish automaker Volvo is set to launch its flagship electric SUV EX90 next year as part of its efforts to electrify its lineup by 2030.
According to Gear Patrol, Volvo plans to launch the EX90 production at its existing South Carolina factory in H1 2024. Meanwhile, deliveries will commence shortly after as a 2025 model.
Exterior design
Volvo stated that the 2025 EX90 SUV will incorporate the brand’s Swedish heritage and Scandinavian design legacy.
The model sports a sleek and aerodynamic round design inspired by yachts, Volvo’s Exterior Design Head T. Jon Mayer emphasized. Its front fascia has no grilles but has a Volvo emblem and iconic “Thor’s Hammer” LED headlights. It also features flush glazing and door handles for improved efficiency.
Interior features
The 2025 Volvo EX90 offers comfortable and generous space for up to seven adults. It has a minimalist layout with various upholstery options, including the recycled textile Nordico and wool blend Nativa.
It also has Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood panels with regenerated polyamide carpets.
It features a 14.5″ infotainment screen without any physical buttons and switches. It supports built-in Google services and apps. It also integrates Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
In addition, it also has superior safety technologies that can support continuous upgrades through over-the-air updates.
Technical details
All EX90 models will offer a dual-motor and all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain with a regenerative braking system. The base twin motor variant can generate a maximum output of 402 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds.
Meanwhile, the twin-motor performance variant can offer 496 horsepower and an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
Both model variants feature a 111-kW battery pack that can enable a driving range of up to 360 miles between charges. According to US News, the battery can support DC fast charging from 10%-80% in just 30 minutes. Meanwhile, a standard Type 2 charger can charge the battery within 11 hours.

Volvo has yet to reveal the specific date of the EX90’s market launch in 2024. As of now, interested customers can now place a pre-order for the model on Volvo’s website.
