Volvo EX30 background

Volvo introduced the EX30 as its smallest and lowest-cost electric SUV offering in June 2023, even declaring that it is a “cornerstone” of its electrification strategy.

The Volvo EX30 has a base price of just $34,950 (36,000 euros), making it one of the cheapest EVs currently available in the market.

> Volvo Cars announced today that the all-new, all-electric Volvo EX30 model will be produced at its Ghent plant in Belgium from 2025 on.

Volvo plans to produce the EX30 at its Ghent factory in Belgium by 2025 in addition to its Chinese facility to accelerate production and meet the increasing demand from European customers.

Volvo already started delivering the EX30 to its first customers in Belgium, The Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal in December 2023. According to the Swedish automaker, the commencement of delivery represents a “significant milestone” in its business growth and electrification push.

Volvo also remains confident that the EX30 will advance as “one of your best sellers in the coming years.”

Technical specs

Volvo’s online configurator indicates that the EX30 comes with three powertrain configurations, including the Single Motor, Single Motor Extended Range, and Twin Motor Performance. Presented below are the key specs of the Volvo EX30:

Volvo’s move to launch the EX30 is indeed strategic, considering the growing demand for more affordable EV models in Europe. It can significantly aid the Swedish automaker’s goal to become an all-electric brand by 2030 as it attracts more customers to consider buying from its lineup over other competitors.
