Swedish automaker Volvo successfully produced its first-ever electric minivan, EM90, in Geely’s Hangzhou Bay factory in China on February 6, per the Weibo announcement.
Scandinavian design
Volvo initially unveiled the all-new EM90 electric minivan in November 2023 after previewing it multiple times.
“It’s an age-old cliché, but there really is no place like home.”
Volvo CEO Jim Rowan stated following the EM90 debut
Impressively, Volvo designed the EM90 to offer the most convenient and enjoyable driving experience. It offers superior comfort and flexibility for both business and pleasure.
The Swedish automaker refers to the EM90 as a “Scandinavian living room on wheels,” which includes luxury lounge seating. It also features rear cupholders, a fold-out table, massage functions, and a foldable 15.6-inch rear screen, among others. It also offers innovative software, such as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms.
By simply pushing a button, the electric minivan transforms into a movie theatre, business boardroom, or even a bedroom, depending on the owner’s needs.

As of now, we know that the EM90 deliveries will kick off in March 2024 in China.
The Volvo EM90 will play a crucial role in the company’s goal to have electric vehicles account for 50% (around 600,000) of its vehicle sales by 2025. By the end of the decade, it aims to become an all-electric brand to stay competitive in the rapidly growing market.
