Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) revealed there are now 12,500 preorders for the ID. Buzz, up from 10,000 a month ago, according to Electrek.

According to the head of VWCV, Carsten Intra, over 6,000 of the preorders are for the ID. Buzz Cargo. He further indicated that the ID. Buzz is expected to be delivered in about six months.

Meanwhile, successful orders as of today are anticipated to arrive by the end of the first quarter of 2023.

Beginning in November 2022, the first reservation holders will receive their ID. Buzz electric vehicles. After the IAA Transportation Show in Hanover, Volkswagen will begin delivering vehicles to its dealers for demonstration purposes.

“Of the 15,000 or so vehicles we will build in 2022, not all can be delivered to customers immediately. We first have to stock the dealers first. So the first 6,000 vehicles will go into the showrooms, then the customer vehicles will come.”

Carsten Intra emphasized that the company was surprised by the overwhelming demand for the ID. Buzz, considering that there are presently no vehicles at dealers and no consumers have encountered the electric van yet. Remarkably, the production for the 2022 calendar year is officially sold out.

The projected production ramp-up at the Hanover factory was also discussed in depth by the German automaker. By the end of the year, the number of Buzz cars should increase to 200 every day, up from its 100 daily productions today. Nevertheless, 2023 is expected to launch the official production boost.

“And next year we will really ramp it up. It should already be heading towards 100,000.”

Notably, VWCV intends to gradually produce up to 130,000 ID. Buzz each year in Hannover.

According to reports, the manufacturer is already considering increasing production to take over new Asian markets, including Japan, China, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, the Poznan factory in Poland is identified by Intra as the sole other location likely to produce the ID Buzz aside from the Hanover plant.

However, Intra claimed that after the sales debut in the United States in 2024, the likelihood of producing the ID Buzz in the country might be called into dispute.
