German automaker Volkswagen confirmed on December 27 the launch of its new electric car at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 3, as reported by Motor1.com.
What is currently known about the electric car?
Unfortunately, Volkswagen has not yet provided teasers, extensive details, or even the name of the upcoming new member of its all-electric family.
Nonetheless, the automaker could unveil the production form of the ID. Aero concept sedan, which made its debut at the end of June.
We have already spotted road-going prototypes using cunning disguises. Therefore, the ideal time for an official reveal of a production model in a new camouflage wrap with its official name would be at CES 2023.
Volkswagen confirmed that it would display a camouflaged version of the electric car it intends to unveil at the event.
Could it really be the VW ID. Aero?
The remarkable 385 miles WLTP range was made possible by the Aero concept’s 0.23 drag coefficient, according to VW, at the time of its initial introduction.
There are no details on horsepower or torque. However, it is anticipated that the Aero will take the position of the Arteon as the automaker’s large luxury sedan.
As for the lack of news on the production name, speculations among the EV community assume that the electric car would be named the ID.7.
CES 2023 details

However, Volkswagen’s major debut for its new electric car will occur a few days earlier in booth CP-5 on January 3. Apart from the new electric car, the automaker will also exhibit its ID.4 and ID. Buzz models at the event.
Volkswagen is developing a wide range of electric cars. Remarkably, its electric car sales saw a YoY increase of 23.5% to 207,200 in the first nine months of 2022. That figure marks a 25% growth compared to the entire Volkswagen Group’s sales of 366,400 units.
